Change is not just a part of the game.

Change is the game.

Erik Krueger

From 2016 forward my life was in constant change, with emotional and physical turmoil. It felt as if no matter what I did, the hits kept coming. I felt stuck; a victim of outside circumstance.

For the next five years, I struggled with situations rather than confronting my vision of the way life should be.

And then, on January 20th, 2021 — three days before a celebration of a milestone birthday — I suffered what Chip Conley in his excellent book Learning to Love Midlife calls a Near Death Experience.

That instantaneous, abrupt turn in life’s course illustrated to me in stark relief that my path must change, and would inevitably change whether I liked it or not.

Just at that time, a mentor taught me the secret to staying engaged, focused and on track. He helped my change my level of thinking. He helped me identify the root cause of my hindrances, chart an alternative way of being, and develop and execute my life vision.

I learned to stay flexible yet always maintain the course I have charted.

I learned the importance of mindset.

I learned the value of an outside perspective.

I learned to accept change and to thrive within it.

Recently, hearing these words from Erik Krueger crystallized certain feelings and motivated me to share with you.

These writings capture some lessons, including successes, failures, and everything in between, that I’ve experienced along the path of midlife since that fateful moment.

I draw on these experiences, and so much more, to help others navigate change in their lives and businesses, and I invite you to join me.
